C-battery new main sponsor of Henk Angenent’s marathon speed skating team
Belgian battery manufacturer links sustainable energy to Dutch skating ahead of the 2026-2027 season.

OUDENAARDE/WOUBRUGGE – C-battery, a Belgian manufacturer of C&I battery energy storage systems (BESS), is the new main sponsor of the marathon speed skating team led by Elfstedentocht winner Henk Angenent. The partnership is being announced on the eve of the season opening on Saturday 17 October at the Jaap Eden ice rink in Amsterdam.
With this main sponsorship, C-battery takes its next step in raising its visibility on the Dutch market. Following the earlier announcement of Edwin Hoogerwerf as Strategic Partner Netherlands, the company now also wants to reach a broad audience beyond the energy sector through marathon skating, a discipline with a large and passionate following in the Netherlands.
“Marathon skating is typically Dutch. As main sponsor of this team, we show that C-battery wants to be at the heart of Dutch society, not just behind the meter at businesses. We wish Henk and his team a strong season”
– Bjorn Robbens, CEO C-battery
The team
The new team rides under the leadership of Henk Angenent and consists of four skaters: Ivar Immerzeel (Heerenveen), Jasper van der Marel (Aarlanderveen), Teun de Wit (Gouda) and Isaac Immerzeel (Woerden). The support staff consists of Henk Angenent (Elfstedentocht winner), Wabe de Rooij (skating coach/team manager), Kai Reus (training schedule coach) and Kees Haverkamp (team manager/management).
This season, the team will compete in the national KNSB races in the Beloften (Under-23) division, the Four Days of North Holland, the Dutch Championship on 2 January 2027, and the races at Austria’s Weissensee. If there is enough ice, the team also hopes to skate on Dutch natural ice.
“With C-battery, we have a main sponsor that, like our team, wants to build for the future: reliable, ambitious and mindful of sustainability. That fits the mentality of this group well. We look forward to starting a great season with this new team and its four driven skaters.”
– Henk Angenent, team leader

Sponsor team
Ormer ICT has been involved with Henk Angenent’s team for twelve years and remains on board this season as co-sponsor. Besides Ormer ICT, NOSUCH, ACTOS groep, AGU, Van der Valk restaurants and hotels, YOUCAR, BASE advocaten and Fortiflex also support the team as co-sponsors.
“In my previous role as director of Daikin Netherlands, I experienced what sports sponsorship, and skating in particular, can do for a brand. When we considered how to get C-battery noticed in the Netherlands, the choice was quickly made.”
– Edwin Hoogerwerf, Strategic Partner NL of C-battery
